I saw something you are kind of after but this is a landrover. Same idea though.

I might be able to help with spacing letters.

Have you tried Thomas Net to find a local company who can cast items?

Also try AB Emblem . I think they are NC based.

... and can I just say a big thanks for puttting the North infront of America.

Yes, I am sure that the Quebecois will be delighted that you nave not included the words "Canadian" anywhere in your badge.

Which reminds me of the sad problems we have over here in attempting putting the word "España" in our badges with the Basque and Catalan members of our club.

Can you believe it? When we suggest making stickers to cover the back of the sparewheel cover with the legend "Club Mercedes G España" they complain about the word "España" and claim that we are bringing politics into the club's life!. Crazy world

RE: North American G Club

Might I suggest adding "club" to it somewhere, so as not to be confused by the uneducated that my particular G baring that badge be confused as some type of north american edition. I like the idea of the N. American continent silhouetted in the back ground. How about making the, what I presume is a tire, look a little more realistic. Lastly, and I hope you don't mind my input on all of this, how about adding the laurel reath used on the MB badge to fill in any open space around the circle. Otherwise I'll take at least a couple of them! -James

RE: North American G Club

I have to admit the Land Rover Badge is very well done.
Sooooo....Maybe I can put the NA geographical area inside the circle, overlay a Gwagen on it, then put "N. A. Geleandewagen Owners Club around the circle. then put it inside a black tire tread to wrap it up.
Am I close? Then hold the badge to about 2 inches in diameter. Otherwise the cost is going to be prohibitive.
Putting the letters around the badge is definitely tough, very tough.
Now I need a good side view of a Gwagen to use.
Anyonw got a side view.
If so, email it to me with the words "Side View" on the subject line.
I will think about this and see what I can come up with.

RE: North American G Club

Another thought...as the cost is/seems to be a factor. Maybe make a window decal like the car clubs have to place in the lower right or left part of the windscreen ??? Cheaper, easier to make etc etc. Than, when the need/demand comes for a badge you have somewhat of a template.

Let me take a look - at one point I had found complete autocad drawings of a G. I may still have them.

Re: Inside decals.....
I had 200 made in white over clear for the local home owners association.
They were cheap, but the problem was. they can only be placed on a clear glass.....NO tint, as they could not be seen from the outside.
Outside decals do not last too long.
I hope Maxwell finds the Gwagen pic.
I solved the lettering problem, now to find a good tire to rob the outside tread from.

RE: North American G Club

There were drawings in the older Gwagen brochures showing the various departure angles and the types of chassis configurations and also the "Legend Keeps On Driving" book....I dont have a scanner, but I will keep an eye out.

RE: North American G Club

The company that makes a lot of the specialty badges in Germany, including the Schökl badges from GRAZ is Alois Rettenmaier.

This is a .pdf of some of their auto related work.  This may give you some ideas as well.

http://www.alois-rettenmaier.de/files/autoplaketten_alois_rettenmaier.pdf

Gerald,

If it helps you in any way,  I would be more than happy to carry the cost of this project and sell the remaining medallions out piecemeal as needed.  We are already shipping items daily and we are set up to take credit cards, so payment would be simplified.

Let me know if I can help.

Re: North American G Club

Well whatever we decide on, you can count me in for at least two, perhaps four if I FINALLY get the second G by then. I'd like to mount them the same way the Shockl and 25th Aniv. Ed. badges are on G's these days.

RE: North American G Club

Sean,
I think you offer is a good idea as you are set up in a proper manner to handle this.
After I get the design up to par and everyone agrees that it is OK, I will call you.

Desert Star, Could you send me the file of the Gwagen side views. The Yellow color will work well for picture transfer and the trim will show up good too. Identify the email on the subject line please! gdinkins@triad.rr.com

I would rather have an angle view similar to the one in the LR medallion.

I used the program CD Stomper to make the circle with the name and it worked well.
I have got to put everything together now. That will take me a little time.

RE: North American G Club

I have attempted to get this idea in prespective.
Here is the latest I have come up with, although it does not have the Gwagen in it yet.
I printed it out 4 time and the last one was 2&1/8 inches in diameter. Small, but costs are reasonable.
Now where is the right Gwagen???

RE: North American G Club

Without knowing, the badge actually is about the correct size as shown on the screen.
Mine shows it a little smaller than it actually is.

"I'm In For"

Let's handle the "I'm in for's" by PM or email directly to Gerald. Otherwise this thread will get unnecessarily way long. Thanks!
