I was thinking about getting together for off-road events, but don't know where people from this forum is located. Please mark what region of the US you are located. Can you also reply with local places that you would like to meet up for an off-road event? (regional-map.jpg) Attachments ---------------- regional-map.jpg (22KB - 18 downloads)

If I am looking at that map correctly; CO, Southern KS, NM, OK, and WY are part of the Gulf Shore region? If that is the case, that would be wierd.

The map is a bit odd from a 4wd destination viewpoint, at least for me. I'm on the SF Peninsula but most of my driving is done in the Southwest deserts. I'm up again for a trip in spring.

Someone set up an interactive map for the W163; and it was pretty neat. Problem was that it was for the US only; and we have a lot of international members.

I second what Dai said. Good Job! Positive contributions are always good here. I think your idea is great and LONG overdue. From my perspective, many G events go without the participation they could have just becuase things tend to naturally be loose and informal. Not that anything needs to be more than a meeting of friends, but if we don't know when and where those friends may be, we'll probably never manage to meet! Someone's got to get the ball rolling. Thanks. Garret

I see it as a shame that the Land Rovers, Hummers, and Jeeps get together... and the most capable of them all rarely gets together. Up until now, I've preferred hanging out with the Land Rover guys because they are less destructive on both their vehicles and the environment around them. They do not go ripping up mud holes like many of the Jeep guys around here. I think an annual off-road camping trip would be awesome! It would also be a great opportunity for many of the new G-Wagon owners to see what their trucks are capable of. Perhaps we can get a few Unimogs too. You never know when someone gets stuck...

Braingears - 3/3/2007 2:33 AM I have participated in many events with the Land Rover guys.... That's my experience too. I attended the SOLAROS rally in Northern Georgia last October, and it was a real blast. Of course I was in my Airportable Land Rover, but it is the attitude of the group, and the attention to planning that really makes the difference. There was even a lone G there too! In my opinion, a G rally like that would be about perfect for a quick extended weekend get together. Nice scenery, very good real and challenging four-wheeling, camping, good food, an auction, movies. I just know that we G owners could have at least that good of a time. I'd volunteer to help organize, coordinate or whatever would help pull it off. Garret

See here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/g-treffen/ Organizers are what's needed to do one. (PS to Chuck - Your auquablue email address is still bouncing emails from the G-Treffen list.)
