Tranny Quiz: What goes here?

So I was under there, doing something, when I happened to glance up at the tranny. Noticed a threaded hole, maybe M16 x 1 thread, with nothing in it. Hmm.

The kind of hole that looks like it should have something in it. Like a bolt for example. Or a plug.

Thing is, I wouldn't know, since there is nothing there.

What goes there?

Pic is taken at night on my back underneath the car, so excuse crappy quality. That's the underside of the tranny case (?) and the front of the car is toward the right in the pic.

Doc.

Ah! Eureka! Oldtimers like me still try UBB code. Here... this is a 280 GE with auto trans. Front of the car is toward the right.

Edit... No go. I'm away from my home 'puter; pic is already uploaded to the 'net. Sorry. Folks will just have to use their imagination...

Kind of like you will have to use your imagination with the multiple posts already here in answer to your question.

RE: Tranny Quiz: What goes here?

the underside of the tranny has only two possible "holes".
One is a drain plug (keeping seeped oil in and dirt/water out) the other one (the one at an angle) is an access hole to get to the drain plug of the torque converter.

"Folks will just have to use their imagination... "

Indeed I did for several aggravating hours of not being able to access this site. The servers have a problem.

Anyway, 4x4 is on the ball. That's it- number 31 in the diagram, or far right on the x-ray.

So it is nothing critical then. Good to have of course.

Photo is taken in the dark, on my back under the car. So please forgive crappy quality.

RE: Tranny Quiz: What goes here?

Keep in mind that there are two different plugs. The one for that hole is a plastic/fibre plug and I am pretty sure it is part number N 000908 022010. Mine was missing too and found when I was ordering from the EPC that parts can tend to look the same.
