the seller says on 103k miles on it. that seems a little low for the year. hmmmm.

I could be wrong, but I think there is a shady history on this one. I think the guy bought it when it was 2-tone red/gold, there was massive rust problems, and it was improperly titled. He then tried to go with the often attempted clone to look like a G500 but never finished. Sideview mirrors and bumper endcaps never got done along w/ some other items.

For a photo pictorial of the conversion go to the benzworld forum and see "galleries" , G photos, and then look towards the bottom you should be able to recognize.

there were a great number of little things that needed to be fixed especially on the interior. I looked the body over and everything looked solid. he said the back driver side door had some rust isses, and i could see where his body person must have patched it, but it was still bubbling a bit. as far as the engine i looked under the hood and everything looked clean up top. i checked the air filter and it didnt appear to be blowing oil. underneath did look as though there was oil coming from somewhere though.

when driving the pedal seemed to respond as like what i would imagine a car of this year, although maybe a bit more sluggish. which i understood considering this car is more or less a tank.

he did show me his registration and said it could be registered in nc. however, it appeared that it was not inspected in some time. along with not having mirrors he said he turn signal and wipers were no longer working. he turned the wiper motor on and you could hear it hum, but he said something was wrong with the gears that actually propelled the wipers and it was a simple fix, which made me wonder why he didn't do it.

should i keep looking?

If I can recall the guy that Beepers was dealing with was less than a model seller and the advice that everyone gave him swayed him away from it.

yeah, i met him at chick fila in charlotte, and i got a nasty email from him, but it really was like marrying a half blind girl with cancer and a skin disease who is an ex convict and might be an illegal alian. just would cost too much to get running.
it needed.
new exhaust,

new heater core
new windsheild wiper motor, shaft blades
new fan
he said the electrical system needed to be rewired.
and it was rusty.
i am saving my money for a 463. by the time you got it running, and dot approved, you would have a good repair bill ran up.

I looked at this car last week when it was on craiglist. I got a guy I know in Charlotte to look at it. He said that the car needed about 4 grand worth on work and now, from what I've read, I'm glad I didn't offer more than I did. So, he does have a recent inspection, but he probably doesn't want to divulge that because the inspection showed even more problems.

I also was considering buying it. The current owner bought it less than 2 years ago on Ebay from Philadelphia. Nothing else is known or documented.

Called the DOT and they have no record of importation.

He wants $8k for it.
