I think they found me a little odd, not being in a Marine Corps uniform, but were friendly and helpfull. I imagine one of them will respond with your technical question if you can find the right person. Cheers my friend, -Dai

I got the papers from them - so, if I ask them, they will look up the information in the same papers. I was looking for an outside source to confirm. I could also ask Stuttgart/Graz, but our forum is usually quicker.

Yes, the IFAV ratio is 41:11.
I have two new surplus front axles here. Let me know if you would like photos.

Sorry, I couldn't help it. Warren got some used Can Mil (don't know how similar to IFAV) axles that had been abused pretty badly. Cases were bent, but other stuff was fine. I remember his saying that there were actually quite a few things differnt, some of them surprising, and not all visible externally. Again, not sure how it relates to IFAV stuff, other than to say be prepared for differneces to be more than skin deep. -Dave G.

I noticed (when touring Graz 2005) that they have studs instead of bolts, and the assembly guy needs a machine to lift the super heavy Hutchinson wheels on to the studs. Herad, that they are also used for the armored G. But other than that I don't know much about them.

4x4abc Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: La Paz, Baja California, Mexico Vehicle(s): 02 G500 | RE: IFAV question Ah, I see my point proven. I had asked in another thread whether lifted G should not have the steering damper mount at the diff low and not high. I see that the IFAV axles have them mounted low. Better geometry. But the frame bracket on the IFAV are lower as well. The Graz guys know what they are doing. Not some US "Lift em up hiiiiiiigh! Quick!" - conversion

The first one goes under the rear bumper and that´s not good for off road use. All USMC IFAV´s got a modification with the second version which goes through the hole of the reverse light in the right rear bumper. The second one was made (DC) of stainless steel and the first was only rusty steel.
