Washing the G

Is it me or does it really take a looooong time to wash your G ? I have washed many types of vehicles through the years but wonder if it is the fact I am getting older and slower or the G has more nooks,crannies,moldings,bolt-ons and doo-dads than the average car. I am sure the roof rack and front bull-bar dont help either. It's been awhile since I gave it a bath and it just seemed to 'soak' up my Sunday.
I hope all fellow Gwagener's had a mighty productive weekend with their projects...G related or not.

RE: Washing the G

Washing a G????.....that is SACRILEGE! ...Think of all the time and effort you have put in to go off-road, never mind the expenses and the trouble! ......... that "dirt" is worth a lot of $! ..... only kidding

Yes, they have the tendency to make us "prolong" the task .... but in the other hand .... don't they deserve it!?!

Just be careful, do not use "Hot-Water" she may shrink!!

RE: Washing the G

Its the regular jet washing underneath that takes the time, but it pays off in preventing rust.

No, you are just being very detail-oriented and careful.  Also, you are taking the steps at protecting and taking care of your baby.  I even wipe the inner door sill areas.  I spray and wash the wheel wells too.

Re: Washing the G

Takes me exactly the same time to wash my Golf, my G, my Range, or any other car.

Procedure is as follow:

- Look out the window if you can see a sufficiently large area of the garden
- Identify a slightly slumped shape taking refuge in a shaded corner
- Raise voice volume to the level required by distance and slumpiness of the shape. Increase on very hot days.
- In a clearly articulated tone, yell: "Solo! Solo!! Soloooooo!!!! Make you go wash de motor!"
- Go back to your coffee or whatever else you were doing
- After 10 minutes, peep outside to verify that the operation is going on

Try it at home, and let me know...

RE: Washing the G

G wizz,
Are those fender flares on your truck the fiberglass type or the rubbery type? I am considering painting my G in that color scheme and I have the fiberglass flares. I thought all of the black ones I've seen where rubber.

I don't trust the Car Wash Stations.

I only drive in with all Lockers activated.

I only kick the large pieces of mud of the bottom and clean the inside of the wheels so they stop bouncing around.
