I take it you had this done aftermarket? Any pics out of curiosity? Will upload them later tonite. I got the G used and kept as is. Nothing was done. It was destined for Middle East as the manufacturer label on the driver door stated so.

There is a guy in my local MB club who was telling me about buying a car and having it shipped to him. He went to the factory in Stuttgart, picked up his car, drove it around Europe for a month while on vacation, drove it back to the factory, and flew home; the car arrived in the U.S. about a month later. It seems to me that since MBUSA is importing Gwagens, there should be less red tape to bring one in than there was in the old days. I don't know how different current eurospec G's are compared to US spec trucks, but I recall someone saying once that toward the end of Europa's reign, that the trucks came from Graz fully DoT compliant. If that is the case, then maybe you could just go to Graz, specify what you want on your truck, and pay your local MB dealer to take delivery. Of course none of this addresses the original question of how to get a cheap diesel G, but maybe it's possible to pressure MB into offering this program again. I would be interested to know the cost of a brand new 461 diesel without all the luxury fluff.

Also the vehicle must be ordered and paid through your local MB dealer http://www.mbusa.com/edp/vehicles/lineup.do

I have been told too that there will not be European Delivery program with the G-Wagons. Because of the existing EPA and DOT, you would only be able to bring back a G500 or G55 (G55K). You would not be able to bring back any of the diesels. The only exception would possibly be military personel. They used to be able to ship back thier vehicle without many of the hasles that we have to go through. Perhaps someone on this furum has already done this method.
