| Re: 100K + on a G320?
I average 12.5 - 13 MPG. I have tried many different driving styles and speeds, and it really never changes much at all. I have come to my own bastardized conclusion, that if I'm always getting the same MPG, I might as drive 70-80 MPH. |

| RE: 100K + on a G320?
I ran premium in mine for years until I realized, and verified that they only require regular. There is really no reason to run premium unless the engine is set up to take advantage of it, the M104 in the G isn't, save the money.
I think mine had about 95k on it when I sold it. I worked it pretty hard for about 30k miles. It was off road just about everyday for three summer straight. It towed my 4000 lb boat and five passengers to the lake repeatedly. They are pretty durable trucks. I had to replace the wheel bearings in front, the water pump, the engine wiring harness and a transmission o-ring during its stay with me. Not bad, but not maint free either.
I happen to think the ideal G powertrain is either the 300GE/G300 M103 inline six or the G500. The M103 is much less complex yet than the M104. Less powerful too but sans electronics. I owned probably one of the best as my first one but became greedy for power and traded up? I had a lwb five speed manual, cloth seats no sunroof, very nice truck imported originally for Dave Hollands brother. The G500 feeds my need for speed. I see those as an excellent daily driver with amazing off road capabilities. I would tolerate the electronics to get the power and refinement.
The G320 falls somewhere in the middle. Acceptable power, fair reliability, still built G tough in all other areas. I think a swb would be a great home for that engine, even with over 100k on it. |
