Maxxis Tires

Has anyone had experience with Maxxis Tires? Having only really used BF Goodrich I'm interested in finding out more about them.

They seem to be cropping up more and more in the hardcore 4x4 competition scene; I'm wondering if this is because they have large sizes available at a budget price (like those horrid Interco tires that everyone used to run) or are they actually a good tire?

RE: Maxxis Tires

I have never used the Maxxis tires before , but one user from another off road forum , is using them on his Rangie and his feed back that they provide very good grip and the side walls are really helpfull .
The price is also another factor compared to tires in the same category the maxxis are really cheaper .

Re: Maxxis Tires

I run Maxxis Big Shot Mudders 235/85/16s on my 280 - they are awesome! I've done 15,000kms on road and they are wearing well, and I don't exactly drive slow around corners either!

I'm needing new tyres for my 300GE and will go for Maxxis again.

Re: Maxxis Tires

Apparently the car tires are similar to the moto tires. Good tread meat, good traction, good price, but they wear out very fast and the sidewalls are not all that strong if you offroad in the rocks they can tear.

another good bargain tire though is the Kumho Venture

Re: Maxxis Tires

I've got to admit I'm not too keen on the Kumho - from observing acquaintances who run Kumhos on their Toyota Pick-ups the compound seems to be too hard for the kind of driving I do.

RE: Maxxis Tires

I had some Maxxis AT type tires on my 2001 F250 Powerstroke 4x4. I was very happy with them and were only $400 U.S. for a 10 ply tire.
