I've serviced a lot of sedans with 350 diesels that have been good cars, and about the same number of them that are sh!t. My opinion on these is that if they have over 200K km on them, then they are usually good to go for a while longer, especially if this one has had all of the work done that they claim... and it was done by someone with experience with the alloy head MB diesels. BUT as I say, it is a gamble, the o'le 350 might give up the ghost on the way home from the seller (but that is one of the realities of buying ANY used vehicle, no matter what it is or how good it was for the last owner). Your best bet would to find a spare engine in a wrecked 350SDL and set it back for if/when that one dies, if you decide to go that route. The 4 speed tranny is a good unit (and it is fairly simple to rebuild), it wouldn't bother me not having the extra gear of the 5 speed... I definately wouldn't let that detour me from purchasing a 90's G of any engine type. Cheers, Ben | ||
