I used Castrol 20W-50 dino. I tried switching to synthetic around 100,000 miles; and ended up with a whole bunch of seeps that I didn't have before. | ||

It's a mistake many make. When the 460s were around the top of the line stuff for the 560s etc was 40-15, so 20-50 is all good. | ||

In the M110 I always used 20-50 castrol in the summer, and 10-40 in the winter (20-50 is like glue at -20F!) 335,000 miles on that engine, and still runs like a top, so I think that oil is okay! I use 15-40 year round in the 617A so far. -Dave G. | ||

Posts: 2230 | RE: what oil should i use in my 280 GEL? well put twodogs i have just ordered valvoline 10/40 off the net for a bargain (2x 5l) enough for tops aswell. photoman; what you mentioned sounds logical,old engines dont need modern oils that cost a lot more. i hope to have all the oils done on saturday | ||
