| G500 Custom Glass Source - Bay Area, CA
Has anyone found a dependable shop in the Bay Area that will custom cut the front windshield and install?

nope, but it would be good to know... or at least if the windshield can be bought without rain sensor which costs a fortune. I plan to replace mine after this coming winter... it's getting pretty pitted... |

Try this: http://allstarglass.net/makes-models.html They said 32 years service in California and 38 locations. I just had my left rear panel glass changed at their South San Francisco location at reasonable price. It's the first time I deal with them though. |

Mine was replaced with the original glass by my insurance, had to pay a very reasonable fee CSAA used a local installer in San Carlos I saw the the glass and gasket prior to install all original Mercedes parts |

Does anyone know if one of our forum members is the owner of 2-3 280GE's in the Marina. I know for a fact that they own two, a SWB and a LWB, both white. I've also seen a grayish gold SWB lurking around the same area, could be theirs as well. Makes me second guess leaving my 280GE in Sacramento... |

Hey bay area folks, I have a real nice windshield in a G I am stripping for parts right now if any of you guys want it, its in san rafael. We have a tool for removal, works 80% of the time without damage I'm told.
on these other G's in SF.....
not sure about the white one, but that gray swb hardtop with the w123 mercedes hood ornament stuck on it has been around for a long time. guy lives on bay st near fillmore/marina elementary
my wife used to run a store down there on union st for 8 yrs+ and parked our many G's for all those years in the marina, never any harm has come to any there.
your chances of damage in the marina district are more likely to be from falling buildings when the ground liquifies in the next earthquake!
there is a white 2 door in sausalito that pops over the bridge from time to time as well.
there is also a white LWB in north beach district, but the fellow has a boat in St Francis YC
anyway, you'll find there are tons of old Gs in SF and Marin, Tahoe, etc......

This would all make sense as I live across the street from the Palace of Fine Arts. As for concern for damage to my car, I live in the Bimmer, Range Rover and Marcedes capitol of San Francisco, hardly worry about damage to the car. More worried about the lack of maneuverability and the already horrible gas mileage I get in my ML. For these reasons I take the bus to work...that and the fact that I prefer not to pay $250 a month for parking when it takes me 15 minutes to take the bus and it costs me $45 a month pre-tax for a pass...
BTW - What business did your wife own? Also, for a good laugh, I like walking into Mezes and ordering in Greek and practically nothing off the menu.

Ah Mezes, we know them, the owners grew up in mytilini lesvos where my wife's dad's family is from.
dimitria used to manage (1998-2006) a store called David Clay Jewelers on Union St. at the corner of Laguna. (about 3 doors in from Laguna on the north side)
we should gather up for some tiropitas! |
