ARB roof rack

I was eating lunch with my friend that have the offroad shop.. long story short some stuff from ARB came for one of there baja trucks... anyway i mention they make a nice roof rack for the G class.

They looked it up and said its about $300 for the big one. part number 3700050

That sound very cheap for anything ARB. If that is the correct part number and price i might just have to get one, That would take car of the nasty scratches i have on the roof and keep the paint on the top.

RE: ARB roof rack

Kerr, I think that is for the "leg kit" only, not the rack its self. The leg kit on their web site is described as:

ARB’s unique mounting system is much more than just a means of attaching the roof rack to your 4x4. To ensure proper load distribution, a full-length, PVC protected galvanized support channel evenly distributes the weight along the full length of the vehicle gutter, while molded rubber clamp pads eliminate metal to metal contact under the gutters. Installation and the removal of your ARB roof rack is quite simple, thanks to this practical and clever mounting system.

It sells for $246.95 for the 2200mm & 1850mm longs rails, depending on how long your gutters are.

At least that's what comes up when I put in the item number into their web site, I could be wrong.

RE: ARB roof rack

If they sell the rack to you for $300 go for it. No need to correct then on their calculations.

Re: ARB roof rack

yea no joke. i googled it, looks like the part number for the rack is 3800010 and the legs to mount are it 3700050 as mentioned above.

Using google i found a few placed that the rack is $600.00 not as bad as i thought.. Ill have to ad that to the wish list

Im sure some one told them the wrong number when they called about the price.. Not a big deal, that and i wouldnt want to make them made. they come pull me out when im stuck

I'm dealing with him on a Hannibal support issue, seems to be very nice competent guy. They do have the really sturdy Hannibal racks also for the G-wagen like mine. I do have their tent mounted to it and we also like to use the rack as viewing platform, like fireworks on the 4th of July....

I hope you have better luck with those guys than I did. When I mentioned a G500, they pretty much stopped responding. I got the impression that they didn't want anything to do with a non-Rover vehicle.

I experienced the same thing.

Ask too many questions and they stop talking to you.

So judging by the price of these things they just said no to at least $1,200 in business for simply sending an email to their supplier... and that is of course not including every other potential customer who was just put off by this post or whom you may have recommended them to.... that sounds like good business sense to me.

I even registered a complaint with Hannibal in SA. Their response was that I could always order direct from the factory in SA. Imagine the FedEx charges on that order!

I know it probably isn't any help now - but DHL Ocean is very cheap and reasonably fast. I get shipments to/from the US in 2-3 weeks door to door.

Another good source for racks is Slee Offroad right here in Colorado. They are great to deal with and have good prices. Most of the racks that they have can be drop shiped to a dock door or a place with a fork lift to save on freight. Even if you do not buy one, you need to check out the FJ80 pick up that they built.
