| 280GE parts question
A couple quick questions ...
- Is the oil dip stick on the M110 engine the same length for the sedan/wagon and the G-wagen or is there a 280GE specific dip stick?
- Is the exhaust 2-to-1 downpipe just aft of the manifolds G specific or can one from a sedan/wagon be used?
I currently use needle nose pliers to remove the one on the engine since the finger pull is broken. The 2-to-1 downpipe is full of rust holes and needs to be replaced. Thanks. -Martin |

Well, I happen to have both. Suppose I could check when opportunity comes up. Later today, tomorrow...
Unless somebody who already happens to know for sure drops by.
Thing about the 2-1 exhaust tube... are those a pain to get off of there? Have similar problem; it's a pita to get at to fix without removing the whole darn thing.

Martin,
When I went through my exhaust sytem on my 280, the conclusion I came to was that the exhaust pipes after the exhaust manifolds were not the same as the sedans.
I had very good luck with www.timevalve.com building a g-wagen exhaust for me. I had to mail them my entire exhaust system since they had not yet built one up. So hopefully than can build one up for you without the mailing. For the pipes you're interested in they use a stainless steel flex line. After I had shaped it for the install, I wrapped it in header tape and then sealed it. I did this to move as much heat away from the side of the tranny as possible (and the floor board too). It was still in great shape when I sold the G.

Oil dipstick part number 110-010-11-72 you can buy from any local MB dealer , around $18
Exhaust pipe for 280GE is specific G-Parts you can place an order any time.
