Collado de la Quesera, 28 November 2008

We were there yesterday... gorgeous, amazing, gobsmacking!....

We crossed La Quesera without a problem (there wasn't too much snow) but after having lunch in Riaza, Segovia we went back to Wadi-al-Hajara (وادي الحجارة) and drove like 70 miles of beautiful snowy tracks... we ended up on a hill near Cantalojas, beaten by a powerful snow drift while the night fell upon us... we lost the track within so much snow and it took us 3 hours to find our way down the very steep banks of the hill to Cantalojas....

Most pictures are already in their relevant album:

The are some beautiful ones missing, made while the sun was coming down so do please return later and they will all be there!

This is the picture of nervousness: Freyer looking for a track to drive down to civilization, in the middle of the snow drift and while light was disappearing very rapidly...

From Quesera

It took us almost three hours to reach the village down the hill which was at all times within eyesight....

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I especially like the white G with the stripes. I see those paint schemes in the factory advertising, but have never seen one in person that came from the factory that way. I think they're kind of a "love it or hate it" thing. Myself, I both "love it AND hate it". The stripes are dated and maybe a little tacky even in their own time (the G's little nod back to the disco era I guess). But their uniqueness now makes them interesting to me and fun to see in use. Thanks again for sharing.

Menno, where was your picture taken? Will there be skating on the canals this year? I love Holland in winter.

It's just started to bring us a little snow here in the rockies. Unfortunately my business travel for the upcoming week will take me away from all that, into Mexico. But I'm sure there will be plenty more to enjoy before it's all over this year.

All the best,

-Dave G.

great pics and a very nice scenery, wow.

I have to go with Dave for the stripes on the white G, really like them although they're as outdated as can be. Can't have enough of this retro styling. Very stout G by the way and being used as it was designed for.

Snow in Spain AND the Netherlands at the end of November but not in Alberta, Canada!  Who denies changes in global climate?!?!  Not that I'm complaining...I hate snow (yeah, I know I live in the wrong place).  Great pics, it looks like you had a blast.  Thanks for sharing.

 Take care,

 Steve

I am curious. The sign appears to be the same one in the same or a very similar place, in the gloomy and the sunny pictures above, but is obviously not the same place unless you guys vandalised it!! (which I do doubt).

But it looks like fun. Where is this place for those who would check on a map?

Wonderful photos. Some spots on the trek look a little hairy. I took the G to Durango, CO this weekend. Fun to have snow.

I don't know about Canada, 'cause I have never been there. But winters in central Spain, if anything, used to be colder and snowier in the past than they are today.
