I did manage to successfully drill the 18.8mm hole to insert the input connector. So that's the positive of my efforts. Now for the negative. I spent the entire day installing the aux cable. The entire day. Aux cables arrived at 10am and I was hyped to get started. So hyped that I forgot I had the instructions readily available to remove all the necessary pieces to access the Command. Blanked out and pm'd Dutch for glove box removal WIS. Duh, I knew how to remove 4 screws! I have totally lost my "backyard mechanic street cred" and completely shut down, feeling defeated after my efforts trying to solder, for the very first time, the clips on the black, brown, yellow and silver wires. I gave up around 9pm after striping the clips off of the wires because my spotty soldering kept the clips from going all the way in to the 4, 5, 13 and 14 pin connectors. Should've ordered the kit from fourbyfour and left the install to a pro. Now, my Command and dash are back in place. I have a CD changer error and no iPod. No gold star for me.

So, this morning I called the MB dealership in Silver Spring for replacement terminals. They had em in stock. Cruised down, purchased 4 more clips. Asked my next door neighbor for his assistance (he's an engineer with every tool known to man) in crimping the terminals to the black, silver, yellow and brown wire. While he did the crimping I re removed the Command. Took 10mins including removing the glove box. Connected the terminals in 4,5,13 and 14. Helped that this time around I noticed the markings for 9 and 18. I remember learning years ago that #1 is always labeled. It wasn't but as stated, 9 and 18 were. Finished the job and this time made sure to put each wiring harness back (the reason I lost my CD connection). I'm Friday happy. BTW, the crimped terminals look great. Thought solder would be a little more secure. Enjoy your efforts.... Cheers.

A previous owner apparently clipped the wire and I haven't had luck rewiring it...yet. Thanks!
