| COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE
Hello forum members,
today I went to the dealer in order to get the accesory cable for the COMAND unit for my 2002 G500, I ask for part number A2035406107 and was told that such part didn´t exist, after explaining what was I after they gave me part A0018277004 Media Interface Consumer Cable. There are 3 cables to choose from Ipod, USB, Aux.
Has anybody used this cables and or have the instruction on how to connect them?

I bought an Ipod interface cable(001 827 54 04) for our E350 which has an ipod interface installed - you don't have that in a '02 G500.
The Aux cable would be the one to use, but you might have to do a mod on the Comand for it to be plugged in. The device side (ipod or similar) has an head phone connector as input. |

I went to buy that cable yesterday, A203 540 61 07, for my 2002 G500, and they told me it had been replaced by A 210 440 50 05. So I got that, plus four terminals A008 545 55 26. Picture attached.
I suspect the A0018277004 cable they sold you is not compatible with the 2002 G500. The 2002 can only take analogue audio, not USB etc.
The parts counter guy was surprised there was a way to put an aux connector on the G500, and I had to show him the WIS document (thank you Dutch) to make him believe it.

Guimo's pictures have disappeared as expected
here is the "correct" size
I am still not clear as to which connector connects to what - and most importantly, what's the source connection on the vehicle?

Guimo,
You will not be able to use any of those cables - they do not plug into the Comand system on your vehicle. I do not understand why they would sell them to you.
The only thing that will work on the 2002 is the cable I photographed above. You have to cut the pins off and put new pins on, and then it connects to the back of your Comand. Then you will be able to listen to your ipod, but not control it.

Richard and Harald, thank you very much for your help, just came back from the dealer and they took the cables back and order a new one with the correct number, for a while I thought I could somehow use this set, but i think is better to go with the proven ones.

2) Has anyone gotten the dealer to install it?..how much did it cost you?
3) How do you actually *use* the auxiliary port? I mean how do you enable it through COMAND? |

x 2 on Indiana response. Ive had it done by my dealer, and its very useful. You can connect most electronic devices (including some phones) that use headsets to stream audio through your cars speakers.
My dealer didnt know how, and I had to provide wiring info for the connectors (not tough assuming your dealer knows how to work on c classes as well)
I didnt have the above wiring diagram, and that makes life far easier.

I gave my dealer a copy of Dutch's .pdf and they ordered the cable and did the install fo $330 total. Easy to access the controls on command, as described above. The sound differs from CD and FM requiring adjustments of bass/treble for optimum sound, as well as volume, when transitioning from another audio source. |

I have a 2004 G500....my COMAND unit doesn't have an AUX button and I don't see where I can actually select AUX through the screen menus....
Does this mean I wont be able to use this cable and get an auxiliary input to work?? |

Mine is the lowest right button on the selectors - it's the button that acesses information and to change time, etc ... |
