That you mention it, I believe you are right about it being accessed through the "SVC(Service) button - Guess I have been pressing it for so many years I forgot what it said. Anyway, glad you found it ...

FYI - aux install doc

This new cable -A 210 440 50 05 does not have two black wires as stated in the star bulletin T-I-82.85/191 ( aux install ). The bulletin is using the old part number it identifies part no. A 203 540 61 07.

I have just installed the aux command cable part no - A 210 440 50 05. This cable has a yellow, brown, black, and a silver bare wire. I installed the silver wire as stated in the aux install doc in lieu of the "thick- gauge black wire" and it works.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

I installed xm radio and went thru an FM modulator on the antenna wire. It works fine except the sound is not the best. There is a 1/8" output jack going out to tje COMAND. Do I assume correctly I could install and use an AUX IN cable to input just like an ipod?

Bob - If it was a yellow and blue 280 then you are most likely correct - the Silver G500 is a little less easy to spot though it is riding a little higher with spring shims and sporting the Rockmeisters and spare tire unit from G-Wagen Accessories. Now to replace the COMAND ... Let me know where you are south of Houston (email or PM.) If you don't have the Aux 1/8" input installed already let me know ...

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Hi. Does anyone know where I'd be able to find this cable A 210 440 50 05 online? Or if there's an updated part number could someone share the updated part number please.

Thanks.

It's a standard MB part. US MSRP is US$49.50. I'm sure that Eurotruck or Fourbyfourclub can get it for you.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Older thread, but I Search'ed to find it :D

How difficult is it to remove the COMAND head unit, to be able to access the connector?

Any DIY available on that part of it?

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Did this upgrade yesterday, total install was about 90 Min and everything went good.
Instructions, on this site, were great.
I can now access the AUX setting and plug in my iPhone for Pandora.

When I had the wood trim off I mounted a cradle to the inside edge, don't see the screws for the front.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

*rant/venting-

I ordered the aux cable from a source I've ordered from successfully twice and there's a glitch in the matrix because it's been almost two months and no follow up with a shipment or a processing of my bank card. Just a confirmation e-mail and my order #. Silver g500's post just reminded me to check back in on my order status. I would've loved to have already completed this project so that I too would be able to listen to my iPod/iPhone during my time in the G. "fool me once"

How do you remove the wood trim, etc to access the Comand module?

RE: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Curious to know if you guys that did this recently (or anyone else for that matter) have been able to find a solution for the sound settings zeroing themselves out for the AUX input with the U.S. version of the COMAND 2.0 radio? I gather that the euro version doesn't have that same issue, which certainly would be nice.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

94rover... the exact process I followed. Great vids combined with the Mercedes install bulletin, got'er done.
I purchased the cable harness and contacts through, mercedespartscenter dot com.
Harness was $38.75 plus shipping..... as I had other things to purchase oatl shipping wasn't bad.

Good luck.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

BTW... I have not had the issue of the sound settings zeroing out.
Settings are all where I last set.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Another simple follow up message today (first inquiry message sent by reply through confirmation e-mail) using the proper method via the 'your account' tab created positive results. So, a correction in the matrix and a reply message back to me resulting in a Fedex 2day delivery which means my aux cable should be delivered by Wednesday.

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Aux cable has arrived!

#1. Is it mandatory to solder the four metal clips after cliping off the wires from the terminals?

#2. Anyone else not install the connecting end inside the glove box?

Re: COMMAND ACCESORY CABLE

Answer....
1.) I would recommend... I had one pull apart when it was installed and had to re-do. I didn't have my solder gun with me.
2.) Glove Box... but it could also mount in Arm rest. Any flat surface, really.
