The car apart from this is doing fine, no need for low gears. I just need to drive normally for a couple of weeks till they have time to fix. Can I keep on driving normally or will the car soon fail?

Whenever I stopped and moved the gear selector to P, I did have to work the procedure to get back in H. Slightly annoying but no complaints because my family and I weren't left stranded.

Whenever I stopped and moved the gear selector to P, I did have to work the procedure to get back in H. Slightly annoying but no complaints because my family and I weren't left stranded. Question: were you able to tell / verify that the TC was not any longer in H, or did just the "H" disappear from the display? Karl

The first moment was after stopping to take pics at the first mountain overlook. "Nail biting" moment too because I was unable to move forward to return to road and continue up to our destination and the unknown of vehicles approaching with my front end siting in the path of oncoming traffic. The H was not visible on the display after starting up from, campsite arrival/check in, unloading of gear and during the return trip home after the refill of gas/petrol. Whenever selecting D, I was greeted by the "beep" and a couple of messages on display. I pressed the foot pedal to move forward and got nothing but a long slugish movement with high rev. Stopped, placed gear selector in P, set the parking brake, then N and switch to Low then High and held it for maybe 15 secs and we all heard the gear grind. After doing that a few times while moving forward went into H still with no H visible on the display. Karl, where is that part you once made available on your site for TC Motor emergency roadside repair?...

Just bought my first G500 a month ago (I've been a Land Cruiser guy for years). Its a 2004. 117K miles. I am at least the 3rd owner. Been driving it regularly and making my way through a maintenance and repair list. Saturday night when I was parallel parking I got the "TC in Neutral" and a blank square. I was driving it so I knew it was not really in neutral. The next day I had the beeping when I opened the driver door with the same message. I went through the routine of cycling between H and L and got the H back in the dash. Not seen it in the last day or two. Guess I may have begun my borrowed time? I checked the electrical connectors and those all look good, so maybe I will start looking for a motor and maybe a module.... and keep an eye on this thread. Thanks!

Still getting occasional "blank" not HI or LO. (Which so far I can correct). Looking at replacing original Transfer Case Module which hopefully hasn't compromised new motor ? Looks like 463 545 2732 has been superseded by 463 901 07 00. Am I correct ?

The motor is super easy to R and R, the module is a PITA. Edited by drey 10/8/2013 2:39 PM

Is that a different part, though, or just a new part number, I wonder? At very least, the most recent TC module for a G500 prior to 463 901 07 00 is 463 545 2732, then?

Hope this helps someone.

Dealer understood and after installation new module will not save any of the programming. Now waiting for a replacement module through dealer and coming from down east. Can't see any point in putting the old one back. Major deal BTW in replacing as buried below the centre console which needs to be removed in its entirety. So in the middle of an expensive mess! Ouch!

A-1 Cardone sells a remanufactured TC motor for about $250-$300, but as you will see below, they claim that it only fits 2004-2006 G55AMG and 2004-2007 G500. I would like to use this unit in my 2003 G55AMG. Any comments or recommendations are appreciated.
