A/C side vents by door 93 500GE question

Hi everyone,

I have two 93 500GE's. On the first one, A/C only blows cold air out of the two vents in the center of the dash, no cold air from two side vents, next to door's. Only hot there.

Second one blows cold A/C air out of all 4 vents, which is really nice.

I always thought that the A/C only came out of the center dash vents on the pre MBUSA (2002) G's and that heat only came out the side vents next to door.

Question.

If the second one that has all 4 vents blowing cold air is correct, what would be the problem on the first one that does not have cold air out of side vents?

I would like the first one to have A/C out of all 4 vents.

With Best Wishes,

AGuess

Mine only blows cold air out of the center vents.

At speed on the highway, there is a tiny amount of cold air that comes from the side vents.

If you refer to English owners manual, they explain how the slider mechanism controls the operation of the vents. I do not recall offhand how it works. The three sliders on the HVAC Control Head - You move one of them and it controls air flow.

My 300GE 1991 AC blows cold air form center , lateral and foot and console ( near front seats) vents.

Fresh air works the same way.

Heated air is not blowed from center vents.

The more you close the certer vents the more you have cold or fresh air from lateral vents.

My 300GD AC works the same way.

Both my 1984 280GE with factory air and my 2000 G500 would put out cold air from the side vents in the dash. Not very much, but some; and it could be increased by closing the center vents. Also, as Fernando says, an even smaller amount trickles out through the heat and windshield ducts.

That sounds like what I have from the 500 GE.

RE: A/C side vents by door 93 500GE question

Mine blows cold on all four, although the air volume is very weak on the side vents. When I purchased my G320, I found that the passenger side hose was disconnected. Once reconnected, it worked better. I was very concerned because the hot air was hitting all of the electronics located on the passenger side.

Identical for my 1984 280GE (W460) and my 2000 G500 (W463).

+1 for my late 1994 build G320. Very weak refrigerated air from the side vents, good flow from center vents.
