Yes, but they CAN also be a nice experience I think. I had my MY2005 400CDi in Sahara for 3 weeks, no troubles at all, lots of power, good mileage (witch we all know gives big range) lots of comfort, in ambient temperatures from below zero, in the high areas (nice to heat the cabin with the Webasto) and very hot in the remote deserts (nice to have AC). No troubles with the poor quality of Diesel (Has a OEM water separator and filter build in). So a fairly new common rail diesel can work also (now has more than 200,000 km. on it).  | |

Yet there are millions and millions of diesel and petrol cars on the road that haven't "done it". A person will do it. A unique and special kind of individual. Not the kind that makes videos or posts to forums I think. I would trade my own trip around the world (if I had one) for just 30 minutes talking with this incredible man. I'd be very surprised if the subject of travelling came up at all. I find it very humbling just to hear his voice. Lots of voices should just go away (like political ads!  ) But Gunter speaking is like good music and fine wine. Listen...just listen...until maybe I fall asleep. And when I wake up maybe there's only two empty wine glasses and one empty chair to confirm the echoes in my brain aren't just a dream. Thanks for bringing this to our attention again. -Dave G. | |
