a good starting point would be to find out which axle ratios were used in G's with 606 engines

Don't forget that the 606 bearing Gs had an overdrive transfer case.

The factory chose 65mph @ 2600RPM, the engine likes that.

Alan is right, the 606 came with a 5 speed AT. My 460 has the 4 speed. The M110 is happy around 3800 rpms and the 606 at 2600 according to Allan

Hi Tom

I'm currently part way through installing an OM606 and 722.6 autobox into my 1989 460. Doing the same as you.. using the FiP off of a 603 and getting the 6mm elements from my electronic 606 pump installed (although I may go with 7mm for some extra grunt.....)

I have the electronic controller from Ole Fejer on superturbodiesel to control my 722.6. smart bit of kit it is too.

I'm a long way from actually installing my engine... the old 280 M110 is removed and sold, but I've yet to buy a pair of 603 engine mounts, G spec sump and get the FiP fettled.

You could do a lot worse than give Mike Axelburg (AKA Axel606 on clubGW and GWOA), he's in Somerset, and what he doesn't know about G's isn't worth knowing.

I've had defenders all my life, and as similar as they are to G's, they're a lot different, so slowly climbing up a steep learning curve!

Where in the UK are you? I'm in Wiltshire.
