Thanks Depends how handy you are and how old the vehicle is (read: how much crud is on the nuts & bolts you need to remove)... Some say a spring compressor isn't needed, but it was much easier to do with one. Local auto parts stores will let you rent or lend to you for free (I think Checker Auto gave me a free loaner). Took me ~4 hrs with a buddy. Recommend using some penetrating oil on the nuts/bolts for the week(s) running up to the job.

Thanks Why not go into your My Profile and tell us the year and model of your G, as well as where you're located. That info will help us to help and get to know you better.

Koly always invites his LR friends for BBQ and cold ones, it might take a bit longer then Karl

(although they do work cheap [beer] and are usually giddy with delight to work on such a fine vehicle). Back to the topic at hand - the rears were quite easy and relatively quick, although if I remember I did have to unbolt a "T" joint for the brake lines from the axle in order for the lines to have just enough play to fit the spacers and springs back in... YMMV. We did stop for lunch during the install, and yes, I think a cold one (or two) may have been enjoyed during that time. I'm sure we could've improved my time without the refills.

I am an engineer so I like to think of myself as "handy". Seems like a project to do with some help either way. Are there any write ups on this? fourbyfourclub has the dealer version but I was wondering if some one posted a more user friendly version with real pictures and tips? I searched the DIY section but didn't see one. Thanks again

How about if one disconnects the sway bar, need longer brake lines then?

How about if one disconnects the sway bar, need longer brake lines then? From every thing I've read, longer brake lines are not needed with any spring spacers 50mm and smaller... Not sure if that's the case after sway bars are disconnected. With your taller springs and slightly longer travel, I would think if you add spacers you'd probably have to extend the brake lines. Related - my comment about having to unbolt the rear brake line "t" junction was for fitment purposed only. Re-bolted after installation and no other changes were needed.

I know it is a shame, big shame...... Since I am the seller of my worlds famous Mercedes G class coil spring spacers and have sold more than 500 sets worldwide over the last three years...and my customers around the world have asked me hundreds times about a DIY writeup...maybe now I will have one made.
