I fitted them yesterday & I must say it is worth the effort, on 2 of the main doors they were noticeably easier to close but on the other 2 it was much of a muchness. The biggest difference & main reason for replacing them is my rear door. I have been plagued with a back door rattle since I have owned the vehicle which is around 18 months, I have tried all adjustment, greases including the MB paste and packing the guides and lock with small pieces of high density foam which has come close to curing the problem but not totally. After fitting the new pin my door rattle has finally gone, the rattle was the latch on the pin & with this new coated pin I finally have a quite back door. I have also removed a bit of high density foam which I had fitted which now allows the door to close a little easier. I will keep experimenting over the next few days with removing more foam as I have had quite a bit packed into the lock & guides to increase the preload on the door latch to remove the rattle but the down side is you have to close the door quite firmly to get it to latch properly. Now having the rear door rattle/clunking finally removed which has bugged me ever since buying has transformed the vehicle as it was the only noise in the vehicle & it really wound me up from time to time on rougher roads. Where as my Land Rover Defender has so many rattles & clunks you don't worry about them but a one off noise in a well sound proofed gets to you. If anyone is changing them it is worth noting that on my drivers door & rear door the old pins had a slight bur on them which meant I had to remove the striker plate which has 2 screw above the striker pin so I could knock the old pins out with a hammer & drift. Where these screws & pin locate is a floating plate so if you need to do this mark up the location of the strike plate so you can refit it all back in the same location without effecting the door adjustment. I was also worried the floating plate may fall into the door pillar so refitted one of the removed screws into the floating plate prior to removing the last screw in the strike plate to ensure the floating plate in the pillar did not drop down.

Are you sure that it wasn't the process of installing the pins that fixed up the problem?

Turned out the spare tire mount was slightly loose. Tightened that baby down and all better. It stumped me for a while as I couldn't figure out if it was the jump seat or the battery that was loose and rattling.
