door pins

These things are worth every penny.

My kids can close my doors now without slamming them as hard as they can. Sounds better too.

Are they for the hinges? 2 per door?

It's that big pin that the lock mechanism grabs. One per door.

Re: door pins

Ya, OK, got it. I'm surprised the latch pin makes such a difference.

Re: door pins

For my 04 it did. Huge.

A newer G ....I don't know.

Do the newer ones come with this type of pin?

I'm wondering how they will hold up.

Re: door pins

Will installing this pin on all doors cut the need for Mercedes Silicone Paste lubricant for door latches and seals?

Re: door pins

I was at the dealership a couple weeks ago looking at a 63 and 550 sitting on the lot. The 63 had those pins, but the 550 didn't. They made a HUGE difference in the sound of the doors shutting. I'm on the fence -- I like the latching noise the doors make now, though I'll probably upgrade eventually just to get rid of the squeaks I get when the silicone lube wears off.

RE: door pins

Please do not forget these little gadgets found on a G550.....not sure the G63 has those:

Stainless Steel door wedges on the door frame and the receiving part is mounted on the rockerpanel. This might help/cut down on the door movements.....

RE: door pins

I just put one of these in my driver's door; and I can tell no difference. None, nada, gar nichts.

RE: door pins

I installed these on all four doors and I have definitely noticed a difference. The doors close smoother.
The biggest difference is that passengers haven't had to re-close door because they didn't slam hard enough the first time.
In the past a lot of times when a new passenger would close the door they wouldn't close it hard enough and I would either have to same something or they would realize and have to do it again.

I didn't notice a big change in sound.

I still lubed the doors w the Benz magic goo. I think even with changing the striker you still need to do this.

Def worth the $22.

Now I'm really wondering if this striker can also be used on the back door. I think so, but I have to look at the size of the striker on the rear. It may be a little bigger.
Anyone know?

I love them the way they are from the factory.

They are perfect.

RE: door pins

They are on the G63...Yes, the doors close much easier than the 500GE and G55.

Re: door pins

Anyone know? Do these work for the hatch/trunk/rear 5th door?, that is where I struggle personally let alone others trying to shut that swing door.

Do you mean the double wedge (A.463.740.00.03) mounted on the frame of the doorway or the single wedge with the latch (A.000.740.06.35) on the edge of the door?
