interesting that the crack was horizontal, rather than following the contour of the tube

the bracket is a stamped steel. the stress fracture followed the original stress from the stamping, which is odd because i thought the frames were heart treated when completed.

if the other three bolts were loose, that about sums up what else happened.

my only other question would be, was the box replaced at some point or removed for other service, or was it improper from the factory?

By including the link, are you blaming Eurotruck? Curious, since you don't clarify or explain.

Re: Crack in W463 Chassis Frame found

On the H1 Hummer, this is also an issue. This company provides a solution. Maybe development of something similar for the G is in order:

The link shows what the part looked like from the factory - don't read further into it.

Re: Crack in W463 Chassis Frame found

I actually bought the part from the Eurotruck link. This website was very helpful for me to shop around and find the part that will be welded in.

Re: Crack in W463 Chassis Frame found

I know when I had my '87 K5 Blazer, there were issues with this as well. Here is a link to a company that had some good solutions to it, which might give you some good ideas.

Re: Crack in W463 Chassis Frame found

Interesting it says replace coolant every 3 years . Earlier there was a thread that brought up this matter
