MudMonkey Veteran Date registered: Jun 2013 Location: CO Vehicle(s): '03 G500 Posts: 274 | Anyone using a pet net / dog barrier for the rear cargo area? Looking for info and experience from anyone that has used a pet net / dog barrier / mesh partition thing for the rear cargo area - I need to keep a big dog (90-100lb) back there and want to keep him from hanging his head over the back seat, trying to climb over, drooling on whoever's in the back, and coming over the back seat in the event of an accident. Maybe I just don't know where to look, but I haven't seen many options out there for a G. Any brands or part numbers I should look at? Any photos that could be shared would be really great to see. Thanks guys!

We've had four dogs in the back of ours on many occasions. We use the MB 'Load Retaining Net' part number: 463 860 05 74. Your interior may already be fitted with the brackets: left 210 868 13 14 and right 210 868 14 14.

I found this (non genuine) on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-BENZ-G-CLASS-2002-2014-TRUNK-ENVEL... Be interesting to see how it compares to the genuine item, which is also called "cargo retaining net" Edited by grazza 1/1/2014 4:47 PM

Looks like over $300 for the MB load retaining net... which sucks.

Or did you need to buy more than just the net/guard itself?

Probably not what you're after but in case it tickles the fancy of anyone who searches up this thread later, My home-made setup is on CGW tech articles. Peter, are you aware that the danish rules for converting the tax code on your vehicle, allowes for a smaller and less intrusive barrier than what you have fitted currently. You could gain some manuverbility inside the cabin and get a unobstructed view in the rearview mirror. We are taxed high enough on these trucks, at least we can wring out every square centimeter of living space.

But I wanted the fence to be full-width in order to protect both the driver and passenger from object in the cargo area that might intrude in case of an accident. The upper half takes max. 2 min. to dismantled (4 pcs. bolts) and allows me to have a full length sleeping platform (1.85 m.) which is supported on the lower half of the fence. So a bit of design thinking went into it, and I pretty happy with the result. But Thanks. Edited by thebigblue 1/10/2014 8:33 AM

MiN - 1/2/2014 12:36 PM Here's a couple off the web. The lower straps clip into part number 202 860 03 14. Just to close the loop here: Looks like there is a different in the width of the interior near the ceiling on the newer W463's versus the pre-2002 W463's.... maybe you guys are aware, but it's news to me. I bought a factory interior cargo net/divider on Ebay - just received it - turns out it is about 1-2" too long at the top. It does not fit between the two "receivers" on either side of the ceiling inside my '03 G500. As I look very closely at your two photos, MiN, I can see the difference now that I'm looking for it...
