Trunk organizer and Security Barrier for w460 LWB

Hello everyone,
My dad just fabricated a storage organizer for the trunk and a security barrier behind the rear seat.
He designed the storage area in a way so we can remove them without any tools. Interlocking panels and portable tool boxes are snug and not rattling.

Partition barrier is securing the trunk area. Rear seat release latch has been modified to secure the back.
Barrier lifts up and allows to use the whole space if necessary or get the gear that we need without removing things from back. Dad fabricated the hinges himself to prevent any rattling. He nailed it.
We also fabricated a fit shade to cover the things inside the storage area so when we parked during the expedition, it will not attract attention.
Side windows are secured. We ll install the mash to the rear window this week as well..
finally.... trunk door has a manually actuated deadbolt so no one can get open even by the key.

It is not a common design so I would like to ask your opinion... what else would be nice to add or change ?

Wow, heavy duty!
Gas struts on the cargo barrier is a nice touch.
Is it primarily for work use, carrying heavy items?
What are the blue straps for?

That diamond plate pattern sheet is actually closed cell foam but looks like aluminum from a distance. It helps to reduce the noise from the wheel well.
Gas struts was dad's idea and I liked it a lot.. I don't think a different barrier design, that does not open up, would be as practical as this one.

This is my wife's truck lol... not for the work use.. she needs to carry our kid's stroller while truck has whole tool kit and recovery gear in the trunk.
On weekends we dont have to load and unload a lot of gear when we escape to the trails.

Blue straps are actually kind of bungee that I was checking the size while I was taking the pictures... I ll make trunk webbing to secure grocies and other shopping items on top using those blue bunguees.

If you were not far we would help you out by any means necessary.
Those hand made hinges took a whole day to fabricate and adjust for makking them work properly.
I do not think I could afford to pay for a fabrication with such quality. I do not see that I can ask him if he would make another if he is paid.

The quality is obvious, the design and integration work immaculate! Make sure that you continue to treat him as the special guy he obvious is. Many thanks for your offer but I am 3/4s of the country away.

Projects like this and folks like the two of you are one of many reasons that I love these forums.

That suggestion will annoy Hans (name of Our primary vehicle-E class) for sure.
He is already jealous since we spend more time with G.

Thanks for kind words. I will forward them to my dad.
I could not explore the limits of his fabrication skills and mechanical knowledge yet. He still keeps on surprising me.
That fabrication was actually kind of our treat after he overhauled my brothers R80 G/S PD installing 1000cc kit of siebenrock with performance cam and twin sparkplugs. That took a lot longer than G since he overhauled the whole engine, transmission and the finaldrive.

So we managed to have 2 different type of reliable overlander vehicles that are electronics-free. Seems like there are many possibilities to improve them based on choices.

This forum is really a place where I found amazingly knowledgeable members.

I ran into them in homedepot in flooring section. They are not great if you put really heavy items on them since they get marked but if they were too hard it would work for sound deadening.
