Metal to plastic fuel tank

Hi,

I bought a plastic fuel tank from a 300GD for my 230GE to get rid of a really small yet very irritating leakage. I've never exchanged a fuel tank before and I'm a bit confused how to connect the diesel tank to my petrol vehicle.

Three questions before I start the work:
- Is my plastic tank the one that doesn't allow the exaust pipe to pass above? That's how it looks when comparing other pictures I've found on this forum...
- Can I get rid of the old pump underneath the fuel tank?
- Are there any instructions for fitting the tank? I don't have any saddle tanks. I've purchased a conversion pipe for the filler.

Some pics of my plastic tank and fitted steel tank:

RE: Metal to plastic fuel tank

There are instructions for removal/replacement/converting to plastic. I will try to attach the PDFs, failing that please PM me your email address and I will email them

-edit- only managed to attach 1 file, the others are too large.

Ps. On the SWB 300GE there was one pump below the tank fed from the bottom and another in the rear wheelwell (I forget if left or right), but I understand on diesels suction is from the top of the tank.
