| Difference between G500 repair manuals?
Not to nickel-&-dime but what's the difference between...

Well, let's just say I've bloodied many a knuckle on repairing my Defender, and I'd rather not show up on their doorstep in those wee hours of the night with a hockey mask... ;-)
Honestly, it's just a good thing to have. I like how things are put together and on top of that, it's kind of like when I started buying rental properties and had never put a ceiling fan in, I'd see the MexiCAN's doing it and I'd say, "I can do that". Same thing when I called various MB private shops and spoke to their head tech who has over 20 yrs experience, and then I mention the G500, then I mention 'ball joints' and the freaking dude had no idea what I was talking about. True story, precisely one week ago!! lol. I went through 10 yrs of that in the Defender, just trying to do as much as I can. There's one MB dealer, they actually knew a bit. Shop rate is $115 US per hour, just trying to save where I can. And just like I used to watch those Mexicans, it's worse now because I see these mechanics and don't want them anywhere NEAR my G500. Yes, I'm touched.
I mean, I'm not trying to be cheap here... I will buy the more expensive one, but I want to know why it's that much more.

I am guessing that the $55 one is the intro into service manual given to techs when the 463 was introduced by MB to North America. I have this book - ~300 pages. It is very useful but is not a repair manual. There are some maintenance items and a lot of info on all of the systems in the G and how they work. I am just guessing this CD-ROM and the manual I have are the same based on the 300 pg description and on a couple of the pages shown that all appear in the book I have. The $237 manual from Harald is a comprehensive service manual - how to repair nearly everything on the G. Harald's manuals come highly praised by many people here. If in doubt, ask the people selling them for more clarification. Both are known by me personally to be honest and forth coming with info. If they stand behind the products they sell and may want to sell other things to you in the future, I am sure they will be honest about what their respective products are and are not.
