Luky - 8/25/2014 5:05 AM New article in Car Magazine http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshot... Cool engines, but IFS and no real front difflock... Like Alan said in the other thread, I will believe it when I see it. I remember when we were talking about the G dying in 2010... The pictures with the article still clearly show a solid front axle.

These are the new spy photos of arctic testing with the new LAPV. I'm thinking this is the new redesigned G. Look at the width and height change. I still predict portal axels for the redesign. Thoughts? http://www.worldcarfans.com/1160125103268/mercedes-g-class-light-ar...

(Wider, lighter, new engines, 9-speed, IFS?) Hi, Harald. What is that picture you sent? Is it a Suzuki Samurai with sort of a G looking front? Regarding the original issue, I believe that the G is just perfect as it is for serious off roaders. The problem is that as population increases, stupid regulations appear every year in the sake of protecting the environment or of "safety", the room for real basic off roading is schrinking every year. Most people now seem to believe that "connectivity" and stupid electronic gadgets are more important than good performance and bullet proof reliability. Mercedes, after all, makes a living from selling cars, not by pleasing the fairly small group of conservative people who love the G. I´ll be 63 next week and I remember that when I was a child I would tell my Dad about something "new" and he would say "let´s wait some time and see how it comes out".. Now, for the modern "on line" generation, new means good. Ed

Pictures seems to be from winter testing in Kiruna, northern Sweden - the main site for European manufacturers, a heritage from Volvo and Saab. Almost same wrapping, except for the portal axles and probably new engines - most pictures below are not newer than 2011. Don't they just customize these to what the customer wants or sell a frame with body to any who will build something onto them?
