The oil bath bought me some considerable time - 3 months! just last week the noise came back had the new fan sitting in the garage - ready to go in bought it on Amazon for $54 even thought the site states that it would not fit the G500, I had information saying otherwise put it in today - fits perfectly one of the fan blades carries a balance weight - cool detail used the plug from the old unit since the new plug was a little too "Chinese" cable was a bit long, but longer is always better than too short no part numbers in the cast as the original, for the price I could care less runs quieter than the original Great followup! Here's to hoping the aftermarket version lasts as long as the original.

The way to be sure is to look up the part number for your fan on the EPC. Then use the EPC search function (F11) to search for "Part without vehicle data". That will show you all the vehicles that part is use in. The model designator for the G500 is probably 463.249.

I just bought one to try out next to a factory OEM VDO fan which is now "Made in China" (and NOT Germany like the good old days). 4X4ABC: How well has this fan held up for you? On the internet, a lot of complaints about MTC plastic fans cracking and other issues.

It's on the workbench right now. Will see if and how I can replace the bearing (that's usually all that gets noisy on a motor) It's not intended for repairs. Some metal bending involved. Will report

I have a thermal camera and will measure the difference between the MTC fan and the VDO fan by imaging the center of the radiator under each fan. I am currently running the OEM replacement VDO fan (now made in China) on the driver's side and a MTC fan (made in Turkey) on the passenger's side (I hope the locations make sense) described this way.
