Made a simple wood frame with proper shape, waterproofed and stapled the same type of mash I used in front of the grill. I made it such a shape to keep the dirt inside so I can clean it up without dropping them inside again. Seems like it is working. Its so satisfying making stuff yourself and often no choice with a G. And an old G is a great "lego" vehicle. Edited by grazza 10/4/2014 4:32 AM

What model G can we find the partnumber for the filter itself, and there must be some kind of original frame it would rest on? The 461 I have, has the debris mesh build into the plastic grill on the bonnet. But I wonder if a proper pollen filter would dampen the wind noise from the cabin air intake a bit. How do they handle rainwater etc?

How do they handle rainwater etc? Hi Johny, I never considered a pollen filter. I am worried about it getting mold due to rain. Modifying intake and put the filter straight up position in front of the fan may avoid direct water contact. But any filter, anywhere would reduce the airflow. I like being able to get air inside without using the fan. I am not sure how it can effect the noise. There is a bracket inside to hold that frame. ORC sells filter for 64 euro. http://www.orc.de/zeigebild.php?bild=/produkte/images/Luft_01.jpg Enjoy your G Motto

Looks to be just the kind I had in mind to manufacture. I was about to try adapting from another car. This is the much prefered solution. As it is right now, I have plenty of airflow thru the ventilation system (as well as dustclouds) so I'm hoping there should be a sufficient reserve to allow a filter. The ventilation intake is one of the major passageways of sound into my G. So I will try to get clean air and less sound.
