Limp mode surprise

Last week I was merging into I-40 traffic and there was an on comming vehicle the I needed to out pace to get into a line.
So I kick the pedal and to my surprise "Nothing".
I mean nothing and I'm about to get myself in a scrape. but I had a long ramp to get out of the way.
So the G finally picks up speed, but very slowly.
There were no indicators on the dash.
Well, I can tell you the the hesitation took me by surprise aned it was not a comfortable feeling.
Two more stops and the limp mode is allowing me to finally get moving with traffic.
I was only two miles from the MBenz dealership.
I made a stop at Lowes before taking the G to the dealer.
After the Lowes stop the G was OK.
I still went to the dealer and they changed the module that controls the accelerator. I had them put in a new crank shaft positron sensor too.
The clock had nearly 93 K on it and has never had any of these items changed.
I kept the removed parts.
That was $725 parts and labor.

RE: Limp mode surprise

Similar thing had happened to me, with my '04 G500.

I might have over revved the engine slightly, in order to pass a truck - no more power afterwards.

Away from civilization, I was afraid to shut down the engine, and continued a slow limp mode cruise.

After a while, I figured out, with the cruise control acceleration button, you could get back up to speed.....

Obviously, after shutting down the engine and starting it again later - everything was fine.

I adjusted the throttle cable between the pedal and the sensor, and it has not done it again.
