+ 40 mm. ORC springs for 463.333

So, I acquired a set of + 50 mm. spring spaces some years ago.... decided not to fit them after all.

Anyone has any insights and experience on the + 40 mm. ORC springs .... A 40 mm. lift will bee sufficient for my 33" tire-setup, and it seems to me the spring solutions would give me some additional articulation, whereas the spaces will not. So anybody?

Thx

RE: + 40 mm. ORC springs for 463.333

I have been running 4 ORC blue springs for several years. They raise the G by indeed about 40mm, including on the front where I have a winch. Easy for 33" tires and keep enough clearance (I have 285/75R16). Never had any issue at all. A couple years ago I replaced them with Karl's 30mm spring spacers, fitted below OEM springs, because my wife and I were starting to find the ride a bit too harsh on the ORC's with the G empty; perhaps we are getting older...

I have these 4 springs available stored in my garage, happy to sell them at a good price to anyone interested.

I also spent many years on the ORC blue springs. They do work and 33" tires are no problem. The ride, as mentioned, is pretty firm, a little too firm for me as well. Due to the increased spring rate I am not so sure you are getting any additional articulation. The ORC springs do exactly as the MB springs, they provide lift via increasing the spring rate, the springs are not 40mm taller.

I would run the spacers, they are not going to inhibit spring travel and should ride much better than the ORCs. It isn't a hard project to either swap springs or install the spacers so I would think there isn't much harm in trying what you have first.

RE: + 40 mm. ORC springs for 463.333

OK, thanks a lot. Yes, I certainly won´t need a firmer ride, I unfortunately do way too much commuting with a nearly empty vehicle at present time, and I do not have a winch, nor do I intent to get one.
I´m afraid that a 50 mm. raise will put some unwanted strain on the driveline due to the changed angels, so maybe a 30 mm. spacer will be just what I need...
Anybody prepared to trade a pair of 30 mm. in for mine 50 mm. ?

I suspect the net lift of the +40mm spring is very similar to the lift of the 50mm spacer with stock coils. 50mm is not enough to cause problems, I would try them

30 mm is the difference between empty and loading 2 cases of beer

do yourself a favor - go with 50 mm spring spacers!

As I mentioned many times, and also been confirmed by many others: 50 mm spacers are the best way to upgrade suspension: it maintain the stock springs quality and ride quality and allows you to run bigger tires without any alterations.

285/65-18, I´m guessing it will bee around 3 ton, will not know for sure, 170 l. fuel and 60 l. water...
Bringing the essentials and sleeping in the car - this will be my second visit to the sea of sand.
Got stuck a few times last time in 2012, the most annoying was that I had underbody protection, which caused the car to rest on it on top of the sand - I will go without this time.

As safe as so much else we do every day, like driving on the highway... Any specific concerns?
