thebigblue Date registered: Jan 2012 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Getting ready Hi Per. Yes, and thanks. The odometer says 268.000 km. After replacing the chain tensioner some 20.000 km ago it´s now time to do the chain replacement. Work will be mixed non MB shop and DIY. Unfortunately I don´t have a place where I can do this kind of work. And I need it fixed before the trip to Western Sahara next month. Parts is around DKK 10,000. I pretty happy with the OM 628 DE 40 LA, - but you need to look after the EGR-valve, mine was replaced at 250.000 km, and the filter/fuelpump located under the frame. It´s a replacement part rated to last 130.000 km. - and it cost serious $. Another P3 member pointed me to a non OEM version though, which should cost the third of the MB part, and be the same stuff. Oh, yes and the torque converter, replaced this summer at some 250.000 km. BOS did the work. Apparently MB torque converters are not build to last, not even in a G. Torque comes at a price Edited by thebigblue 10/17/2014 3:58 AM

Last week, before work begun, I had the truck go into limp mode three times, crankshaft position sensor, - so I guess I have a really really long timing chain :/ Edited by thebigblue 10/21/2014 10:20 AM
