Thanks to the "Temple Monkey" G-AMG

The Temple Monkey found the much sought after "MES 2" workshop tool kit. Very pleased to get this piece of kit. It is beautifully packaged and very worthwhile if you intend on being a long term G owner...

Cheers

Re: Thanks to the "Temple Monkey" G-AMG

I think the only "W460-Specific" item in the box is the Clutch Alignment Mandrel. Oh, scratch-that... there is also a "Diesel Cylinder Insuflation" Adapter (a DIN 7,2 Quick-Connect Male, to Some Diesel thread size I don't have/use... I think it is to Pressurize the Cylinder during Glow-Plug Cleaning??? Sorry, I know ZERO about Diesels...)

The rest? Goes "Both Ways".

Brake Pad puller, Brake Piston Press-Back tool, Transfer Case Mounts R/R Tool Set, Flywheel Holding Tool, Brake spring Hook Tool, Rear Brake (Drum) Shoe Spring R/R tool, and Lastly the Engine Lifting Cable, all are usable on the W463.

Aren't the drifts on the left side intended for pressing axle bearings?  I think those are differently sized on the 460/463.

G'amg,
Don't forget that 463 and 460 have totally different t case bushings, the mandrels Alan is referring to are for 460 tcase bushings (I think for the post-'81 style only but they may work for early type too). 463 bushings don't need special tools for their replacement, just 13mm and 17mm sockets and a rachet.

Yes, I know... I am getting the "Athelete's Tongue" out of my mouth, as we speak. I mis-spoke.

I just looked up in WIS, and you are correct.

Attached is a Photo of the Included Parts.

Alan, 3 of the 4 Parts on the "Left" side of the H1's Photo are part of the T-Case Mount Puller set 460 589 00 43 00.

I am also full of Guano in the 4th piece on the Left. I mis-spoke on it's use. The Adapter is "Verdichtungsprufer", or "Compression Tester" Adapter (for Diesels, I presume).

Anyhoo, sorry about my Incorrect statement about the number of Cross-Compatable items.

Either way, it is a REALLY cool set! My German friend claims the actual BOX was specifically designed to be THROWN out of an Aircraft, in a battle scenario, and yet not damage the Tools within.

Re: Thanks to the "Temple Monkey" G-AMG

I still think it was a good buy. The case is beautiful. I agree. You could air drop the case and the tools would arrive safe. You have the appreciate the Germans and their attention to detail. Some of the tools are secured in place with wood bracing and wingnuts. The handles are spring loaded. First class.

If the T-Case mounts on the W463 are only metric sockets and a ratchet, that makes my life easier.

If only 4 or 5 parts are not cross compatible for my 463s, maybe I will need a MilSurp W460/W461 Diesel one day
