G550

I just purchased 2013 G550 Blk on Blk and been looking for a forum to join. There are many forums but have not found many active sites. Is this because of limited number of cars in production or owners of these cars spend time enjoying the car and not spend time on the forum.

Re: G550

This is the best forum for W463 owners. Have a look at our DIY and tech section. That is a giant differentiator.

The majority of MB owners for the G class are divided into two groups. 1) Hard core enthusiasts that understand the vehicle and its history and own it and preserve it 2) Those that lease it for the looks and curb appeal

Most that drive the G do not consider long term ownership and are content to use it as reliable ground transportation and have little interest in the long term preservation of the vehicle.

Re: G550

Welcome!

I've joined a few G forums... I'd say this one and ClubGWagen were the best.

Followed by the GWOA.

Re: G550

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I love this car and want to learn all about this car!.
Things thats are not in the manual! I have owned Range Rover HSE for two years and took it off road several times and loved it. I know this wagon could keep up or out perform RR but need to learn. So far I have roof racks coming, and need to learn the controls to navigate through snow for coming winter. Would love your guidance. Thanks

Re: G550

Yo have a G550, which is considered a W463 variant. Have you been to the DIY forum yet?

GWOA in U.K. is organised (yes, with an "s") in the British club fashion and is one of best structured groups I have seen, ever. However, with petrol prices in U.K. as they are, W463 beasts and V8 variants are few and far between. They are a crafty bunch, but have limited experience with the standard U.S. model W463 with a V8.

If you read here and go through some of G-AMGs excellent tutorials, you will be in good shape. The DIY forum can be accessed by going to the top of the page and clicking "vans, trucks, SUVs..." tab.

RE: G550

This is the best site for me.

Even though I do not get on line too often I always read the posts here, and could not be as happy as I am with my G for almost a decade with out all this site has to offer.

Long live the G and POINTED THREE!

Agreed.

We have some amazing members with huge depth of knowledge on here that really go above and beyond. Dutch, G-AMG, Harald 4x4ABC, and many others who I am not thinking of at the moment.

The fact that members share their knowledge and technical information and "lessons learned" with the group is what makes P3 the best G Forum around.

I am happy to see it grow and evolve with new members and expertise. Hopefully the new members will continue to contribute here and expand the knowledge base, and our DIY archives.

I do not think there is another person I have met that has as much G suspension knowledge as you, Mario. And from direct experience working with the parts.

Re: G550

Thanks guys for your input. I have always wanted to own a G wagen and when our leased Range Rover HSE was projected to have over 10k miles over I jumped at the chance to get rid of it. We wanted to buy an SUV that had class and function. I am excited to learn all there is to this car so when the opportunity comes up I am able to execute through all situations.
