Are the mounting fixtures shown (that hold bar upright) threaded and removable? The outer surface is knurled which would lead me to believe that they may be? On the other hand they may be spot welded as an assembly. Thought I would ask the collective knowledge of the group before I grab one with channel lock pliers and twist. By turning them in or out, you adjust the angle of the bar and how close the top is close to the front of the hood.

Is MB and say ET the only sources for the brush guard (and/or parts)? Yes they are, but they are ungodly expensive. One upright is almost 2/3 cost of complete guard. All parts disassemble pretty easily. Mine had a few bends and dings in one cross piece and one upright that a local metal working/welding shop fixed for 40 bucks and you barely know something was done after all was powder coated and reassembled. One of my uprights is dented, and it's good to know that taking it to a good metal shop can fix it. I have a good local powder coater as well so I think I will remove it and go that route. My horizontal bars/guard are chrome, so it's basically just the uprights that I would need to powder coat. Cheers, Gerry

Cheers, Gerry As with anything else, always check to see if it something they can do (or want to do) some shops do not want to screw with the small stuff. I am surprised the one I went to did....but they were recommeded by the powdercoater. I got lucky. Mike

It was a bugger to get off. After removal I chased the threads on the side which was not loctited. All is well. Off to powder coat. G4Me

G4Me When reinstalling, you can "fine tune" the distance of guard to the grill and/or light bezels by screwing that in or out as needed and as to provide for a good snug fit when securing the mating pieces with the special tool. Loc tite would help keep your "settings" as such for other times you may remove guard. Mike Edited by DesertStar 1/7/2015 5:42 PM

Cant remember if it is left or right, but I had it powdercoated with a bunch of other stuff and looks perfect. If you need it, PM me and I will go through some cabinets and put up pictures.

I see you are in Hawaii, but any details on type of powder coating, prep work and any other details. I believe that not all powder coating is the same? Thank you

Quite a bit of rust flakes fell out upon disassembly. My powder coat shop sand blasts and then applies a rust preventative and then the powder coat. It made a huge difference as the bar looks brand new. I also replaced the driving lights at the same time and applied a thread sealant to the bolts to inhibit water from getting into cross bar again.

I have called several powder coating shops and none seem real interested in the job. There seem to be a whole lot of options and type of powder coating. Any suggestions on what I need or don't need? Thank you
