thebigblue Date registered: Jan 2012 Location: Vehicle(s): | Samsung Tab 10.1" mount in my W463 I initial had the tablet on a RAM-suction-cup on the windshield, kind-off nice to have it up center just above the center-vents, but it obstructed the view to the right front corner of the G, not something you will want when navigating a tight track, so I changed it today: Since there´s no metal structure in the part of the panel I mounted the RAM-ball onto, please remember to use some big washers behind it. Just dismantled the glove-box (4 screws). The hole in the RAM-part is around Ø5.5 mm., Since I used M6x30 mm. bolts I had to enlarge them to Ø6.5 mm. This is a 10-15 min. job. Now if there were a way to connect back up camera to the Samsung Tab... I will explore monitors for a back up camera but I will use this set up. Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind sharing, what RAM mount is it you are using? No luck finding it on Amazon (update, found all the parts at rammount!). Edited by 94rover 1/30/2015 6:29 PM

thebigblue Date registered: Jan 2012 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Samsung Tab 10.1" mount in my W463 Being a perfectionist I just ordered a black cable.... Will get you the part-# shortly.... 1 x 1" Ball Round Base with AMPS Pattern. Part Number: RAM-B-202 1 x Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 & Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Holder. Part Number: RAM-HOL-SAM5 1 x Double Socket Short Arm for 1" Ball. Part Number: RAM-B-201-A (This is the shorter version of the standard arm!) 1 x Diamond Base with 1" Ball. Part Number: RAM-B-238 ----- 2 pcs. M6X30, nuts and washers The holder for the Tab is a just bit wider than the Tab 4, leaving a 3 mm. gab on each side, - but it will keep it in place just fine (see picture), I prefer it over the universal RAM Tab holder. I've done something similar by using a Ram Tough Claw clamp attached to the grab handle above the glove box. It's nice in that it doesn't require any permanent changes, but I've found that the tablet wiggles around a lot more than I'd like. How steady have you found your tablet to be with your solution?

Yes - I think I will give the bolts some rattle can paint when temperatures gets above five degrees Celsius.... I´m okay with the damage - It´s a small sacrifice, I have also made some holes to mount a CB-radio below the glove-box. I want the G to work on off-road adventures and travels, that is what I original got this truck for The holder seems to be quite stable, the arm is very short and the fixing to the panel is quite solid, though as stated, there´s no metal in the structure in this area, so big washers helps... I might handcraft a small aluminum plate in the same shape as the diamond RAM-base to place on the back of the panel. And a piece of nylon to go beneath the diamond RAM-plate on the front to match the curve in the dash. I will be going for some serious off-stuff late February (North Africa) - this will be the ultimate test.
