Just changed tie rod ends, link and steering shock

Bought a 02 g500 with very low mile and very high price. But did not find the wron out tie rod ends and link. Fixed at local shop with about $1500 ( parts, labor, and balancing). Driving feel not confident as before, also feel going a little bit right hand, the guy told me it caused by the road. Do I need bring it to the tier shop for a alignment or something again?

Need a new right hand door control. I noticed the door control from 02 e-class has same looking as G"s. Anyone know are they compatible?

Attaching a funny G sun shade from Instagram, the G is not mine.

Door control means "door control module", right front passenger side.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=20858&st...

No idea if a C/E class DCM is compatible, but, make sure the CAN connection is solid to the DCM before giving up on it. I didn't adequately test that and bought a new one, only to find it didn't work when I installed it.

They replaced the tierod but didn't do an alignment? For $1500?

Not saying an alignment is necessarily required in all cases after tierod replacement but it is highly probable, and for $1500 it seems like it should have been included.

Re: Just changed tie rod ends, link and steering shock

I have read your post, pretty detailed. My front passenger DCM seems totally no control on seat adjustment; the right side mirror always going down every time I start the engine; window regulator is fine, but last year the right passenger glass exploded by itself, yes it is exploded, charged $800 for replacing glass. I noticed there is some kind newer version of the DCU, is it will be better?
Ps. i hope stay away from the dealers in salt lake city area, they want every dollar from your pocket.

Tiny repair shop, which hear from a friend. Job done find, but I never trust them again. I will take my car to the tire shop for a alignment checkup ASAP. Anything should pay attention to for the 02 G?
Thanks for your reply.

The 2002 alignment is no different from the others. There is a good DIY article on one of the forums for alignments on a G using the "string method". The alignment specs are available online if you'd like to give those to the shop.

The only alignment adjustment is toe-in.

Re: Just changed tie rod ends, link and steering shock

I just did the toe-in alignment to set at approx 0 and result did wonders. Now my toe-in was way out and the car was very sensitive to tracks on the road surface. Now it drives like a dream without reacting to uneven surface. Tires are 33x12.5x16 and on SWB. You can do the adjustment yourself by several approaches. YouTube will give you ideas that will work for you. Good luck!
