G55 oil cooler seal part number

Yesterday I removed my breather covers for resealing then re-torqued the valve covers. Thank you G-AMG for the DIY.

During the process I've noticed a fair amount of oil leaking just under the oil filter.

Seeing how the truck can't be started for twenty four hours, I decided to dig in.

Not easy and not fun!

Noticed the oblong seals are the same, between the oil filter housing and plate and the plate to the cooler.

The two round seals are different. Seems AMG added the plate between the cooler and the filter housing, my guess, the part isn't common.

Re: Need assistance with oil cooler seal part number

Also seems the red o-rings on the tube ends aren't common as well.

Thank you

If you look around for part number 1121840261 you should be able to find what you need.

Re: Need assistance with oil cooler seal part number

Thank you
The round and oblong seal is not hard to find but the two round seals in my setup, are different in size.

And the red o-rings on the tube ends are not showing up in any search.

RE: Need assistance with oil cooler seal part number

Here's a close look at my oil cooler plumbing.

Two pipes leading to the billet aluminum plate, between the filter housing and the cooler.

Re: Need assistance with oil cooler seal part number

I would recommend getting one of those MB dealer software CDs from Ebay that has the parts diagrams (called EPC I think). I think there is a way to get to it through a website as well, but I don't have the link handy. Searching the forum might help you find it.

I'll probably get one of those CDs at this point because I can't find replacements for those 5-prong yellow ESP relays in the center console. Searching the part number shows only used relays on Ebay. Apparently the company that made them (Tyco) no longer makes them. I went to the parts counter at the dealership and got some black 4-prong replacement relays for the aux fans (they are now Hella brand instead of Tyco, made in China), but they didn't have any yellow 5-prongs. When I asked if they could order them, they weren't sure exactly what to order. I guess stocking parts for a truck more than 10 years old is not in their financial interest.

EPCnet

EPCnet is free in the US. No need to buy a CD that goes out of date. Go here:

Online EPC isn't compatible with Mac computers.

It is a Kleeman and it is not my engine BTW. It's the only image I could find online with my the additional oil cooler diverter plate between the filter and cooler.

I have the usual seals coming by morning and went to Marco Rubber, (down the street from me) to match the old o-ring with new.

Found what I need.

If anyone else needs 0-rings for this odd oil cooler setup, let me know?

Re: Need assistance with oil cooler seal part number

I scoured the EPC looking for that plate with no luck. Even went so far as to look at other versions of AMG engines to see if something similar could be found.

I figure the heat exchanger to AMG plate to oil filter housing would probably use 2 sets of the regular O-rings, as it would seem the mystery plate just sits between the heat exchanger (same part on AMG/nonAMG engines) and the oil filter housing (same part on AMG/nonAMG engines) so both sides of it would be matches for the non-AMG exchanger/filter setup.

As for the cooler line o-ring, no dice there either. Though the cooler line is HWA1131800019 (but doesn't show the O-rings) -- and I couldn't find a place on-line that sold it.

Thanks djdinaz for looking into this. You are correct, two pair of standard cooler seals are needed. The o-rings used on the added oil cooler lines have no part number.  My indie believes it's an after market addition from Kleeman, Brabus or ART.

I did locate locate Viton o-rings as replacements.

Re: G55 oil cooler seal part number

G'day all, I am after the red oil cooler line O rings, I needed to remove the lines to remove and replace my water pump and now there is a leak from the lines.

I went to our local Merc dealer today and they were unable to help identify the seals so I am in trouble.

Dave would you know the PN of the Viton seals you fitted as I may need to import some from Australia, if so I will try a temp fix with some sealant on the seals.

I am surprised these are not identified in the EPC as removing the lines from the cooler must be quite a common job.

I can't give you a PN number, as there is non! But I can send you the o-rings, ASAP!

PM me your address?

Re: G55 oil cooler seal part number

If you can find them at home, "75D BLACK" the dimensions are, OD- 20mm, ID-17mm, Width, 3mm. Find them in Viton?
It caries all the resistance qualities you'll need for, engine oil and any subjected crank case gasses and moisture.

No mate as I doubt our local Ace will have anything in Viton which is what I am after. Being a high temp area I would rather not chance not using Viton or equivalent as I would hate to loose the oil due to a seal breakdown.

Thanks for your kind offer for assistance it is appreciated.

I will have another good look around town when I get some time early next week to see what I can find, I previously tried to source some Viton seals for my Defender but without luck and had to get them from Australia when I was back home.

Thanks for the seal specs, I will see what I can turn up locally and if I run into issue I may take you up on your offer. Luckily I have a spare vehicle so I can take my time to sort it out properly.

Re: G55 oil cooler seal part number

Marco Rubber is located in Seabrook NH. I brought my used O-rings to them and they matched it up.
They suggested Viton as being the better material for this application. Smallest amount they could sell me is 10, it cost me around $10.
I have six hanging around, if anyone needs a pair, let me know

Re: G55 oil cooler seal part number

Thanks for your research.. I figure when/if mine start leaking, I'll hit up McMaster-Carr and try something like: http://www.mcmaster.com/#9263k725/=12aqnry

(McMasters is one of those sites I always forget about, then when remembered, I can usually find the oddity I'm looking for).
