Rattle Can Touch-up Paint

I've searched this forum and the DIY forum for a source of touch up paint for my '86 G.
Searched online as well, but getting a wide range of possible vendors offering a color match spray can.
I don't have a paint booth so looking for a rattle can option for touch up.
Would appreciate any recommendations on paint sources.

Re: Rattle Can Touch-up Paint

The Dealer should sell the Rattle Cans... You would have to order it, though.

One warning? They are ONLY 150 ML!, so hopefully you are not planning on doing a Full-Body Re-Spray! Ha Ha..

This way, you will have the best chance of a Good OEM match, Assuming your paint is in good condition??

Re: Rattle Can Touch-up Paint

thanks.
I'll check with the dealer, but thinking rustoleum might be a more economical solution.
this is a project i'll be getting into this summer - when it arrives.
dealing with crappy work conditions, and limited budget.

Re: Rattle Can Touch-up Paint

I have ordered rattle can touch up for the dark grey bumper from the dealer, small brush vial in body color as well. Not too pricey, perfect match.

RE: Rattle Can Touch-up Paint

With the rattle can, is a clear coat needed or is the rattle can touch-up paint glossy like the original paint? I need to repaint my front bumper. This is new territory for me. Am I better off buying paint (from where I don't know) and a paint gun? It doesn't have to look perfect or it might make the rest of my truck look worse I'd just like it to no look like primer and rust with a few black specs here and there anymore.

It Depends upon the Color. Some of the M-B Rattle cans are One-Can, (I guess they mix the Clear and the Basecoat), while others are Two Cans.

You would be surprised how nice you can make a Rattle-Can-Paint-Job Look! It may take a little practice, or a "Re-Do", but you can make it look pretty good, especially if you are not doing a Large panel.

Especially with Painting? It is the PREP-WORK which decides a "Good" vs. a Lousy Result.

In regards to Prep-Work, here is a very basic "overview" of the prep process.

I have more Detailed ones, if you are interested.

RE: Rattle Can Touch-up Paint

Tower Paint (apstowerpaint.com) can mix and supply spray or brush-on paint for any valid paint code you provide. Single stage too. One of the reasons I was inquiring about seat frame paint codes in an earlier thread.

Hi Steve, I have ordered color matched paint to my G500 from paintscratch.com. There is both a base coat and a clear coat. So 2 spray cans total. I did some spraying this weekend to test and show a body shop my color match yesterday. The spray can was spot on and looked great. If you have the newer body color bumper on your 2002, the 2 stage metallic paint spray cans ought to do the job well. This is providing you are working in a 65-80 degree Fahrenheit work environment and a dust free area.
