Happens when going over small bumps. I think it may be the hood. What is the proper way to adjust the rubber stoppers and hood latch? I will put some paste on there but perhaps the rubber stoppers should not touch the body at all when the hood is closed? Would be nice to de-squeak it as it is the only squeak now. Thanks. If you want to "adjust" the bumpers? Simply Unscrew the Locking Nut (10 mm?), set to your liking, then Re-Tighten the lock-nut.

None of them have disappointed or required reapplication. Just really depends on what you find most appropriate to use on the materials that are squeaking. Oh and of course spray lithium grease on some door parts.

I should probably rephrase the question. 1. Does anyone else's hood squeak when they go over bumps? 2. Should the rubber stoppers be held in firm contact with the body by the latch after closing the hood, or should they have space beneath them? The latter would prevent the hood from contacting the body when closing the hood, but allow the hood to be supported by the hinge springs only with the latch holding it down (thereby preventing the rubber from squeaking where it contacts the body). I already backed the stoppers out so they will contact the body, but perhaps this was not the recommended adjustment. Thanks.

I'm currently on a trip with it in Newfoundland and the squeak started a few days ago. I had assumed it was something in the suspension, but your post prompted me to investigate. I can make the noise happen by pushing down on either side of the bull bar. If I pop open the hood, the noise goes away. Now that I know where the noise is coming from, I'm just going to live with it until I get home and let the dealer fix it (I've got a 2014 G550, so it should be covered under warranty).

As it turned out is the latch of the hood. Just clean it up and lubricate it as you do the door latches. I never had to do anything to my doors but I have to lubricate the one for the hood every year as it seems it will get ,dirt ,sand or what ever much easier than the doors. The door latches do squeak by times but before I get a chance to lube them they quit on their own but not the hood! Mario

Funny part it took a while to figure out it was not the spring or hood stops but just the hinge Clean and lube and good for another few months. Never stays on with the doors if not lubed but it will never go away on the hood if not lubed Mario

Yes the rubber stoppers should rest firmly on the body. This keeps the hood from seesawing back and forth. Once the hood is closed you should not be able to push down much on either side.

When the hinge gets dirty it will be doing that annoying squeak no matter what Mario
