Day time running lights question

Is it possible to permanently turn off the day time running lights with SDS or other method. '02 G500, Canadian edition. DRL turns on automatically as soon as I start the engine.

Yep, configurable in SDS. Also should be available in the cluster/command settings too.

Titus

I'm wondering why you want it turned off. Is that not a legal requirement. Or are you troubleshooting something?

On our European trucks this is in the dashboard-computer - might be hidden somewhere in USA models....

RE: Day time running lights question

My 2002 US version allows one to choose. I was used to having the headlights on all the time with my prior car. With the G I started out turning the headlights on and off but got tired of that. Looking in the owners manual I found that I could set it so that I have daytime running lights. The only time I have to move the light switch now is if I want the trailer lights on during the day.

This is one of the differences between US and Canadian models - on the  Canadian models the DRL are always on, with no option to be turned off. I will try with the SDS tomorrow although I am not sure that this could be done.

RE: Day time running lights question

I would like mine turned off as well. It really isn't a DRL, as it activates by turning the headlamps on, including all dash lights, etc. If I could get it turned off, I could add another DRL circuit to LEDs, without having the entire headlamp circuit activated.

Re: Day time running lights question

I was able to turn the DRL's off with SDS.
The reason I want them off is that my truck have a LED DRL and they were working together with the original headlights DRL. Now everything works correct - when the engine is running the LED DRL's are on and when the headlights are turned on the DRL's are on too but with 50% (?) intensity.
Thanks all for the suggestions and special thanks to Temple Monkey for his help and patience.

Titus, how did you get all of this work? Is there a kit, or did you find someone that could do the wiring?

Thanks!
