While I am no mechanic, I am a bit of a shade tree mechanic and wanted to get the proper diagnostic tool for my G500. I believe it is a Star system? Anyone on here know of what I need to get and where to buy it.

Others, including myself, have not. There are a couple of us who have found a very reliable source, but he is very expensive - $3k-$4k.

It comes with an application CD disc that you load onto your laptop and provides a desktop icon. I have found this to be a very good basic diagnostic tool, providing accurate error code readings, and also multiple engine measurements beyond my ability to interpret. Seem to remember it being under $30 on Ebay. When things get more involved, I take it to my trusted independent who has the MBZ Star diagnostic equipment. But the ScanTool has saved me a ton of $$$ on my cars over the years, fwiw.
