I'm at a loss. I have several sets of instructions on removing the air vents and removing the light control panel to the left of the steering wheel. It seems like there is no way to get to the two screws in the very back of the speaker grill (worthless design) unless you pull out the duct work that runs from the left dash vent to the center dash vent. Does anyone know if I am missing something here? Please advise. Matt

That gives access to the unreachable screws holding the speakers in place. On mine it is only necessary to put one of the cluster removal hooks in the defroster opening, and pull up. That trim strip is held in place with friction pins. Can't say if this will work on a 2003.

I can actually see the screws when I pull the light electronics square out. They screw up from the bottom and they are in the very back. Just want to make sure that I have to remove the duct work before I go through all that. Almost easier to fabricate it into the pillar plastic and just forget it. Matt

Once you take the panel under the steering wheel out that holds the ignition switch, there is a small screw you must remove be for the the headlight switch will come out. then you have to use a plastic trim tool to relieve the two metal spring tabs on the two upper sides or you can tear the dash. Once those were out I use a 24" screwdriver to get the two back screws and a stubby screwdriver for the front two. Go ahead and order a new one because it will break. Once it's out you will see why. It's a horribly engineered pice of paper thin plastic. Going back in is no fun to impossible due to the limited space and poorly made plastic parts. If they didn't break coming out they will going in due to the slightest misalignment of the screws. So imho opinion you have two choices, live with the upper screw closest to the driver door missing or remove the dash. I say pull the dash but that's me. If you don't pull the dash you may not get the Ac duct to go in all the way and lose some Ac capacity to behind the dash. If you pull the dash, which is better than dealing with these two covers with the dash in the car, you can change the wiper linkage, steering boot and locktite the wiper motor nuts. I also dynamat anything plastic for good measure. Edited by tradin1 2/6/2016 12:21 AM
