C-class Wis doc attached "Procedure: 1. Wear an industrial grade head protection because you're too lazy to disconnect the battery in order to deactivate the airbag. 2. Remove the airbag by loosening the 2 side-screws via a T30 driver or ratchet. 3. Carefully pull off the airbag. My gf has 2 so it's much harder. Mind the 3 wires going into it though. 4. The black wire pulls straight out, the yellow and green are clipped. 5. The hard part now is getting the 10mm bolt off the column. You will need a rachet with at least a 2' extension bar. Either have someone hold the steering for you, or use your weaker arm. The point is that your ratchet force must not act on the steering lock. 6. Pull off the steering and play some frisbee with it. 7. Take out the 3 torx screws from the clock spring. 8. Gently pry out the clock spring in a circular patten. It's stuck onto the SAS. It should pull straight out. Be careful not to break anything. 9. Pull off the SAS and admire the quality of Benz parts. 10. Follow the calibration procedure in the above posts. 11. Stick the clock spring on the SAS (it's easier this way) and put everything back together. 12. Start up the car in anticipation. 13. If you get codes, try resetting the SAS by turning the steering lock to lock. Drive around and stop. Check again. Then cranking on that steering bolt is much easier.

The airbag removal doc (AR91.60-P-0660P) was too big to post, so I put it up on a public share: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4nL3rm6S5kPZnJDMU1kNlZNbmM Edited by djdinaz 7/13/2016 4:59 PM Attachments ---------------- AR46.10-P-0300GS.steering.angle.sensor.pdf (202KB - 8 downloads) AR46.10-P-0100P.Remove.steering.wheel.pdf (349KB - 4 downloads) AR46.10-P-0200GS.Remove.clock.spring.pdf (190KB - 4 downloads) AR46.10-P-0200-01.Set.Clock.Sprint.to.Center.pdf (15KB - 4 downloads) | ||
