Re: W460 bumper Design

Dutch.
Thank you for your criticism. I appreciate your input and I do quite agree with you on this. You are 100% right. It does look extremely busy and like something out of an aftermarket catalog gone wild. Would I expect a person to have or want all these "accessories", no, but if there is one person that may want or need one of those things I have an answer prepared for it. I also like the idea of people being able to scale into things and really consider their options. Being a car enthusiast I have seen the accessory hell where it just goes way way too far. If you really want to see it, look at the Jeep clan, dear god all mighty it gets bad and loud quick.
I will say though It is much much easier to scale back than add after the fact. I really try to focus on the idea of modularity, sometimes those options get a bit hairy as this has done. I want to focus on the function expandability and scalability of the product.
In reference to your reaction you should have seen my fiance s face when I showed her, she shares your opinion as well. It is my assumption that there is a conservative automotive philosophy in the older w460, nothing wrong with that and I hope I can capture that to some extent, but if people are wanting it to be a bit louder I want to offer that as well
When I get home tonight I will make it a priority to remove some of this ancillary stuff and repost what it would actually look like minus the accessory hell. And yes fender mounted mirrors are extremely Asian, but I kind of like them and the ability to position such that if I get into weird terrain I have another set of views to scope things out.
Again I sincerely appreciate your feedback, no snark or anything. I appreciate telling it like it is, it's a trait not as common as it once was.

I have taken quite the gander at the Canadian forces bumper however don't know exactly what the push bar looks like.
I would love to see a model, if you could send pictures to me at info@langoffroaddesign.com that would be amazing.
I can't tell if the Canadian bumper is a replacement style bumper where it replaces the w461 bumper or its a weld on or bolt on affair. My only question on that is if I could do it how would that work and look. Would you expect it to bolt on? How would a jig work for that, it could be possible.
I'm more a fan of replacement bumpers as I don't like permanently modifying things but what you are suggesting would eliminate some cost material, fabrication, and shipping to a certain extent.

After this is buttoned up I will be looking at making a version with a straight bar in the center as well as a lower profile that does not include a brush guard but is simpler and slightly lighter. Thanks for the feed back gents.

Not only extremely Asian, but also right out where the first bit of brush encountered will rip them off. Not at all good on an off-road truck.

Also keep in mind that the classic W460 design has been in production for 37+ years without the need for added bling. However, each to their own taste, I guess.

RE: W460 bumper Design

As promised. Took some liberties on these and showed them in context. I wish I had a true model of the w460 but late model will have to do I guess.

Agree, - the down-slope on the middle pipe looks a bit silly

Re: W460 bumper Design

I like how the upper bar of the brush guard is continuous and not that silly thing that comes out through the grill on the Canadian army version.
I think the lower bar would be better straight, but that is just me.
