Window Regulator PreMBUSA compared to MBUSA version

Hi Everyone,

On my 93 500GE's, I am starting to have trouble with window regulator's. Windows go down very slow and are hard to go back up. So, I looked into pricing on new front window regulator's. Ouch.

Pre MBUSA 1993 Right side front from MB with discount almost $900.

2002 = $500+. So the price difference is close to $400 savings if I can use newer regulators.

So, does anyone know if the newer 2002 to current window regulators will fit and work in the older 463, Pre MBUSA 93-2000 year G's?

Thank you.

RE: Window Regulator PreMBUSA compared to MBUSA version

If the window actually moves without a hitch to the full top and bottom then I would remove and lubricate the internals.  That is what I did 13 years ago and it has kept working.  My recollection of what I did it pretty hazy now.  The cable system needed new grease, but I think the motor itself was also crudded up with hardened grease.

What is the worst that could happen?  You break it and need a new one.

RE: Window Regulator PreMBUSA compared to MBUSA version

Alan,

Thank you, that is my plan of action for next weekend.

I'm also going to take the door panel off my 2002 G and compare it's regulator to the 93 G.

It's crazy how expensive the older parts are, if they can be purchased through MB. I did check a few other sources and they don't have them for less $$$.

Re: Window Regulator PreMBUSA compared to MBUSA version

Considering my 2002 window regulators only lasted several months before needing replaced - went over 20 when I owned the truck (the idiot dealer service dept surely partly to blame) I'd gladly pay $900 for a regulator that lasts 23 years.

The MBUSA version has a completely different window regulator that is famously fragile.
